An Introduction to Daring Greatly: Tools for Courageous Living

  • General Assembly Seattle, WA (map)

Based on the work by acclaimed author, researcher and storyteller Brené Brown; we will spend two hours in this workshop defining our core values and the behaviors that support them. We will learn about trust and how to foster relationships to build trust in our own lives. Finally we will debunk the myths of vulnerability and understand what courage looks when we dare greatly in our lives.

Below are pieces of Brené's "Daring Greatly" curriculum that we will use as the basis for our conversations together.

How Values Light The Way:
+Identify the personal values that are the most important in your life.
+Identify specific behaviors that align with your values.
+Identify specific people who support your efforts to practice your aspirational values.

Trust & The Marble Jar:
+Understand how and why trust is built incrementally and over time.
+Complete exercises that help you to identify trusting relationships and the specific behaviors that you view as trust building.

The Myths of Vulnerability:
+Dispel the four myths of vulnerability as discussed in Brené Brown’s theory on vulnerability and courage.
+Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between vulnerability and courage.
